In 1951 Edgar W. Kiefer knew where everyone lived. Today the family is scattered across the country and beyond — and most of us have never met.

His genealogy gives us the names to look for. The descendants of Dr. Herman Kiefer include the Kiefer, Bajis and Gilbert families from Alfred's line; the Danziger, Parker, Blackburn and Heym families from Arthur's; the Orr, Nilsson and Jones families from Edgar's; the Bonning and Marr families from Hermina's; and the Bayliss, Lawrie and Owen families from Guy's.

If one of those names is yours — or your grandmother's — you belong in this book.

Bring what you have: a photograph, a letter, a painting, a story your grandfather told. Correct what we got wrong. Add the people we haven't found. Say hello.

Edgar left the pages blank for us. Let's fill them.
